Dodge announced this month that there is the expansion of its Widebody Package option that includes two heritage models for the all-new 2021 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack. The new models include the R/T Scat Pack Shaker and the T/A 392 models which were based on the R/T Scat Pack Widebody trim and added the iconic Shaker hood to that package. Both feature unique throwback muscle-car cues that make them look as great as they perform. Let’s dive into what makes these two new models unique. REV THOSE ENGINES: Both cars will be powered by the powerhouse 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that cranks out 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. For those who are a fan of shifting gears, a 6-speed Tremec manual transmission is standard, or you can choose an optional 8-speed Torque-Flite automatic transmission which will come with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters SIZE AND SRT PERFORMANCE: The 2021 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody model features unique details that link directly to the Dodge brand’s performance legacy. The widebody package adds 3.5 inches to the width of the car. Putting the power to good use are Pirelli performance tires wrapped on a set of 20 x 11-inch aluminum wheels, as well as an SRT Performance-tuned chassis with an SRT high-performance adaptive suspension. The cars will also be equipped with SRT Performance Pages with drive modes, as well as a standard Line Lock feature which engages the front brakes to hold the Challenger stationary during burnouts. Smokin’! TRICKED OUT FEATURES: Inside, the two special editions feature a stylized muscle car interior with throwback black performance seats with signature Houndstooth cloth inserts, giving the driver and front passenger greater lateral support with an old school Mopar vibe. The 2021 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker features a satin black center-mounted hood scoop that snorkels up from the engine compartment, directing cool air back into the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine. And like the original 1970 Challenger R/T with the Shaker hood, the 2021 model continues the Dodge tradition of an engine-mounted hood scoop that “shakes” with the powertrain’s movement. The Dodge Challenger made an awesome impression, establishing itself as a performance legend with a bold presence on the road since it was introduced in 1969 for the 1970 model year. Dodge will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Dodge Challenger, the ultimate GT muscle car to ever hit the street. With its resurgence, the lasting legacy of the Dodge Challenger made record-breaking sales over the past two years. To celebrate, Dodge recently announced details about the 50th Anniversary Edition of the Dodge Challenger for 2020. WHAT TO EXPECT: The Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition will be available on the GT RWD, R/T Shaker, R/T Scat Pack Shaker, and R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody trim levels. You better put your order in now if you hope to buy one, because Dodge is building only 70 examples of each model grade in each available color for a total run of 1,960 units, just like the original year of production for the first Challenger. For the 50th Anniversary Edition, each will have a dashboard placard with the car’s production number out of 70. GOLD STATUS: The new Gold Rush exterior paint color will be introduced with the Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition.  For the anniversary edition, the Shaker hood will be available on the R/T Scat Pack Widebody model and other trims. The Shaker hood is available only for the V8 models. Another new exterior feature for all 50th-anniversary cars is the trim specific “Gold School”  alloy wheels. They will change in design depending on which level of Challenger you choice. Models equipped with Brembo brakes will receive a new gunmetal finish on the calipers rather than the typical bright red. INTERIOR THAT’S AGELESS: The interior of the special edition vehicles is furnished in black Nappa leather with Alcantara accents and Sepia accent stitching. Carbon fiber accents are featured throughout the cabin, too. The seats have heating and ventilation features, while the instrument cluster has a retro feel, with a yellow pinstripe around the gauge dials. Why bother with excellence? Dodge leaves the powertrain alone for this special edition. Each trim level comes with the same engine and transmission as the standard versions. Dodge commemorates the Challenger’s tradition as a muscle car icon with the 2020 Challenger’s 50th Anniversary Edition.
