Pea Ridge Battlefield National Military Park: Pea Ridge, AR

Explore one of the best-preserved American Civil War battlefields at the Pea Ridge Battlefield National Military Park! More than 23,000 soldiers fought here on March 7 and 8, 1862, to determine the fate of Missouri in the largest battle west of the Mississippi. Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park: Prarie Grove, AR

On December 7, 1862, nine months after the battle of Pea Ridge, the Battle of Prairie Grove began, resulting in 2,700 casualties. With more than 900 acres, Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park is now one of America’s best intact Civil War battlefields, where reenactments occur every other year on the first weekend in December. Driving tours are available, and the Hindman Hall Museum houses and displays artifacts from the battle.

Jeep owners and enthusiasts have partaken in this fun and lighthearted global trend that began in North America. Don’t know what Jeep Ducking is? Not to worry! We at McLarty Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat in Springdale, Arkansas, are here to explain the Duck, Duck, Jeep movement and its origin!

What is Jeep Ducking?

It’s simple! Jeep drivers of various Jeep models carry rubber ducks in their cars, which they place on other Jeeps while their owners are away. These ducks are usually left on the car’s handles or hoods and typically have notes encouraging the “target” to post a picture of their new toy with hashtags like #duckduckjeep or #duckingjeeps while also complementing their rides with phrases like “Nice Jeep.” Some Jeep owners accumulate many of these rubber ducks, which they place on their dash area, and call their “duck pond.” The goal is to either pass the duck along to another Jeep or to encourage other Jeep owners to purchase more rubber ducks for the movement!

How it Started

In 2020, Allison Parliament decided to take her beloved 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara on a road trip from Clanton, Alabama, to Ontario, Canada, to see friends and family during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. While on her journey, she had a frightening encounter with someone at a gas station and thankfully had a supportive friend to encourage her to keep going. Before Parliament continued her journey, she purchased a bag of ducks to, in jest, leave several around her friend’s house. While exiting the store, however, she noticed another Jeep in the parking lot. On a whim, she wrote “Nice Jeep” on one of the ducks and placed it on the vehicle, and the owner caught her in the act. Thankfully, the owner appreciated the gesture and encouraged her to post it on social media, kickstarting the movement.

How it’s Going

Parliament thought Jeep Ducking would be a short-lived gag, but to her surprise, the trend blew up overnight. Jeep owners across the United States, Mexico, and Canada quickly picked it up, and within a year, it was trending in more than 30 different countries. The hashtag #duckduckjeep is featured in more than 230,968 posts on Instagram, and the term jeepducking has over 137.7 million views on TikTok. The numbers quoted were accurate at the time this blog was written. The Jeep brand also recognizes the Duck Duck Jeep private Facebook group owned by Parliament as the official Jeep Ducking page, which currently has around 68,000 members at the time this blog was written. The trend grows daily as more Jeep owners share videos and pictures of their ducks with the world!

The 2022 Ram ProMaster uses the Ram Connect system to give drivers service and function to get the job done with fewer distractions and issues. With Ram Connect, driving becomes safer overall. Like a home alarm system, you can get emergency help and immediate connection to a customer care agent with the push of a button With Automatic SOS Call, if a Ram gets into an accident, a call is automatically made to emergency personnel. This feature is activated if the truck’s airbags are deployed. Roadside assistance can also be activated by the push of a button, limiting the risk of further damage or accident while stuck on the side of the road. Ram Connect can also send vehicle theft alerts via its Stolen Vehicle Assistance. If the truck alarm goes off, a notification is quickly sent to the driver’s phone. Stolen Vehicle Assistance gives police help by working with a Ram agent, which improves the likelihood of recovering your stolen truck. They can keep track of the embedded GPS to close the gap on how long your Ram goes missing.

It can get very frustrating and time-consuming trying to remove your Jeep’s hard top. Most of the time, it’s a last-minute decision you and your partner make when getting ready to leave the house. You’re all loaded up and ready to hit the lake when you realize how awesome it would be to remove the top for the day. To make it a little easier we’ve found two different techniques that allow you to do just that, but in ways that are inexpensive.

The first method is for a DIY Jeep hard top hoist. This method can be done inside the garage or under a carport. It requires four basic hooks for your ceiling and four Cam Buckle Straps. You can also use ratchet straps but it’s quicker and easier to use Cam Buckles. First, remove all the bolts allowing your hard top to release. Second, hook your Cam Buckles to your hard top. Third, pull the straps on the buckles. Last, pull away. It’s that easy and you can get this whole setup for $20 or less.

The next method is also used indoors or in a carport but it’s a DIY electric hoist system. This method is a bit more pricey but it makes this task extremely easy. For this, you can either mount your electric hoist to the ceiling or you can mount it in the attic connecting it to the joists above where you plan on storing your hard top. If you choose to mount it in the attic, you can cut a hole in the drywall running the hook through for access. Next, any type of strap or tow strap works. You just need something you can run through your hard top that can attach to the hook on your electric hoist. Run the straps through your hard top, hook the straps to your hoist, raise your hard top with the hoist controller then you’re on your way. Quick and easy.
