Dodge Celebrates Dodge Challenger’s 50th Anniversary
WHAT TO EXPECT: The Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition will be available on the GT RWD, R/T Shaker, R/T Scat Pack Shaker, and R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody trim levels. You better put your order in now if you hope to buy one, because Dodge is building only 70 examples of each model grade in each available color for a total run of 1,960 units, just like the original year of production for the first Challenger. For the 50th Anniversary Edition, each will have a dashboard placard with the car’s production number out of 70.
GOLD STATUS: The new Gold Rush exterior paint color will be introduced with the Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition. For the anniversary edition, the Shaker hood will be available on the R/T Scat Pack Widebody model and other trims. The Shaker hood is available only for the V8 models. Another new exterior feature for all 50th-anniversary cars is the trim specific “Gold School” alloy wheels. They will change in design depending on which level of Challenger you choice. Models equipped with Brembo brakes will receive a new gunmetal finish on the calipers rather than the typical bright red.
INTERIOR THAT’S AGELESS: The interior of the special edition vehicles is furnished in black Nappa leather with Alcantara accents and Sepia accent stitching. Carbon fiber accents are featured throughout the cabin, too. The seats have heating and ventilation features, while the instrument cluster has a retro feel, with a yellow pinstripe around the gauge dials. Why bother with excellence? Dodge leaves the powertrain alone for this special edition. Each trim level comes with the same engine and transmission as the standard versions.

CHINA GROVE CEMETERY
SALINE COUNTY, ARKANSAS
Even though it has been closed for decades, China Grove Cemetery is still visited by ghost hunters. The old cemetery is located on a narrow abandoned dirt road, gated off, just off of South Alexander Road in Saline County. The last burial there was in the early 1970’s. China Grove Cemetery is not like the traditional large graveyard, but splintered up into pieces here and there in the wooded area. China Grove has had a reputation for decades as being a hot spot for paranormal activity and dark local legends. Some witnesses say that as you approach the old metal gate at the end of the dirt road leading to the cemetery, your vehicle headlights will start to flicker, and the car radio will go silent or only pick up static. For years, there had been sightings of a white dog with cold blue eyes at the gate, with the dog appearing transparent when the beam of a flashlight hits it. Another legend about the abandoned cemetery is that the headstones dotting the dark woods sometimes glow, with the glow moving along behind you as you travel to get to the cemetery. There is also the distraught phantom woman carrying a crying baby. Some say she will approach, trying to give you her baby. Purportedly, if you take her offering, the bundle is not a baby but a gravestone that automatically weighs you down to the ground, and you cannot get out from under it.

FORT SMITH NATIONAL CEMETERY
FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS
After the fall of Fort Smith to Union forces during the Civil War, the old post burial spot was elevated to the status of national cemetery in 1867. The Fort Smith National Cemetery is a peaceful and dignified place of final rest… for most. Some have reported sightings of a ghostly funeral procession, the participants decked out in turn-of-the-century clothing. Throughout the years, Visitors to the cemetery have heard disembodied-voices singing old hymnals like a choir. Others say the ghost of a caparisoned horse will appear, slowly being lead by a phantom Civil War soldier towards the back of the cemetery. At night, there have been sightings of bright orbs changing color at a rapid rate, which then just disappear, and on some evenings, the sound of wagons resonates throughout the cemetery.
LIBERTY BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY
BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS
Liberty Baptist Church is a sleepy country church located just outside the city of Batesville. Families in the area have been members of this church for years, and it has been an integral part of the community for decades. Yet many say it is the most haunted area in Independence County, Arkansas. In the older part of the church itself, witnesses have reported seeing an elderly woman in the windows, either gazing out through the glass or rocking in a rocking chair mid-air. The dirt road entrance into the cemetery is purportedly haunted by the ghost of a young woman who was murdered in the early 1900’s, put to rest in the cemetery a century ago, but still pacing up and down the dirt road looking for her kin to visit. Throughout the years, visitors, ghosthunters, and the curious have captured the ghostly image of a young boy in their photos, and the disembodied sounds of a child’s laughter can be heard throughout the cemetery during the fall months.

Opening weekend for the 2019 Sunflower Jubilee starts this weekend, Friday, September 6 and will continue on Saturday. Admission into Farmland Adventures is just $6 and your ticket in brings a whole lot of adventures with it. The Parson family has always kept a massive corn maze on their farm, perfect for late summer and early fall adventures. Meticulously designing the maze so that it creates a unique picture from a top-down view is one of their favorite things to do and Farmland Adventures has always had exciting themes for their corn maze including: Knights and Castles, Wild West Adventures and even an African Safari. However, this year’s theme will be Let Freedom Ring, complete with the Liberty Bell and an American Bald Eagle incorporated into the design.
Make a whole day out of the trip and stay for the petting zoo and wagon rides! Farmland Adventures has sheep, pigs, goats, calves, alpacas, ponies, mules, donkeys, zonkeys and a zebu all available for plenty of petting and a heart amount of fawning over. Pony rides are included with admission and the kids will certainly have fond memories of riding at Farmland Adventures. Smaller children can explore the Kids Play Area at Farmland Adventures. Songland and Jeep create Summer Competition
If you’re a fan of television, odds are high that you’ve heard of the new hit show Songland. Songland, an NBC original show, offers contestants the opportunity to write original songs for award-winning performing artists. With a chance to be the creative genius behind an artists’ next big hit, Songland has featured some of the hottest competition of the summer.
The marketing team at FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) saw just how successful Songland was becoming and decided they wanted to make one aspiring songwriters’ dreams come true. FCA teamed up with NBC and the two created a challenge for each contestant to write a song specifically catered toward a Jeep commercial.
Katelyn Tarver poured her heart and soul into her song, “Young,” ultimately winning over the judges and securing the chance to team up with Jeep and award-winning, Nashville band Old Dominion.
