Old Spanish Treasure Cave: Sulphur Springs, AR
The Old Spanish Treasure Cave is filled with mystery and legend. Many believe it contains treasures dating back more than 400 years ago, with the search beginning in the late 1800s. The story says Spanish Conquistadors fled to the cave during a terrible winter storm to seek shelter. However, these people had recently raided Native American villages and the tribe members sought revenge. The Conquistadors blew their cover once they lit a fire inside the cavern, and smoke rose out of the top of the mountains. Once the dust settled, a conquistador sealed all the entrances to the cave and drew two maps, one on parchment paper and the other on limestone inside the cave. The cave’s current owner is still searching for this lost treasure and has evidence of what these ventures have found and can show you what the team is doing to find this treasure on this cave’s one-hour guided tour!
